Karin Woodley
Chief Executive

With twenty three years in the third sector, Karin was previously Chief Executive of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust; Artistic and Executive Director of the Tabernacle Centre for Arts and Learning; Chief Executive of the Minorities’ Arts Advisory Service; Deputy Director (Finance and Administration) of Camden Arts Centre; and a management consultant, trainer and researcher specialising in social justice, education, diversity and equalities, community cohesion, criminal justice, urban design and regeneration, and arts and culture.

Karin has served as an adviser to local, regional and national government, and for organisations in the UK, USA and Southern Africa. Between 2000 and 2005, she was founding Chair of the Race Equality Partnership Kensington and Chelsea, a member of Scotland Yard’s Carnival Gold Task Group, Voluntary Sector Representative for Arts, Learning and Culture on the Kensington and Chelsea Local Strategic Partnership, and Chair of a Metropolitan Police Independent Advisory Group. Karin’s non-executive memberships have also included the Institute of Race Relations Executive Committee; Royal Opera House Education Committee; and the LSC Credit Framework for Central London Steering Group.

Academic appointments have included visiting lectureships for University of Amsterdam in Johannesburg; Dillard University, New Orleans; Birkbeck College, University of London and the London School of Economics. Karin is a Bachelor of music, a fellow of the British American Project and a Lord Chancellor appointee to the Legal Services Board Consumer Panel.

Pam Boyd
Executive Director ContinYou Cymru Deputy Director ContinYou

Pam Boyd started with Education Extra over 12 years ago and was acting deputy director before the creation of ContinYou nearly six years ago. She had responsibility for Education Extra Cymru and continues to have responsibility for developing and leading all work in Wales with ContinYou as Executive Director of ContinYou Cymru. Her background includes local authority education, leisure, youth and community services, Training Enterprise Council where she had responsibility for out of school hours childcare, regeneration and equal opportunities programmes. She has a Masters degree in Education and has been a school governor for 27 years.

Pam lives in Trefriw, Conwy, and is a Welsh learner.

Jonathan Berry
Executive Director of Health Improvement

ContinYou’s Executive Director of Health Improvement, has lead strategic responsibility for the national Skilled for Health programme. Jonathan is also the lead for all other ContinYou health improvement programmes and is the organisation’s strategic lead with the Department of Health. In these roles Jonathan emphasises the importance of linking health and community learning to tackle health inequalities.

Chris Carey
Executive Director of Development and Marketing

Chris joined ContinYou in September 2009. As Executive Director, Development and Marketing he will lead ContinYou’s strategic business and brand development across all sectors. Chris has 35 years experience working in children, young people and family services. He initially trained as a social worker working in both local authority and voluntary sector posts before becoming Children’s Services Director and latterly Development Director with the charity Shaftesbury Young People. Here, for over 20 years, he held overall responsibility for the strategic development and operational management of a diverse range of statutory social care and education services. Throughout his career Chris has regularly contributed to the development of national policy in children and young people’s services at central government level. He is a committed lifelong learner and is currently completing an MBA at Portsmouth University.

Joe Hayman
National Programme Director of Extended Schools and Study Support

Joe Hayman is the Director of Extended Schools and Study Support at ContinYou. He joined ContinYou in January this year after five years working for the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales, managing national youth crime prevention programmes and advising Ministers on measures aimed at reducing youth offending. 

Joe is a trustee of the mentoring charity Friends United Network and Special Educational Needs Governor at Gospel Oak Primary School in north London.

Steve Hodges
Deputy Chief Executive
Internal Affairs

Steve's background is in child care social work. He began his career as a social worker, specialising in work with children, young people and families, initially as part of a child guidance team, and then working for social services in Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull. 

More recently, he has worked for the children’s charity, NCH, initially as Director of Children’s Services in the Midlands, and for the last seven years, as UK Director, managing NCH’s work in the north of the UK and leading the development and implementation of the agency’s business and financial strategy.

Kelly Saini Badwal
National Programme Director for Children and Families

Kelly is ContinYou’s National Programme Director and has lead strategic responsibility for the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Schools (NRC) and Children and Families programmes. Kelly is aiming to raise the profiles of families and supplementary education in the mainstream sector. She is working closely with the DCSF to measure the impact of supplementary education on a child’s attainment. Kelly has come to ContinYou with a background of working with community organisations, in particular with newly arrived communities.
