Extended services

Supporting you with developing the core offer of extended school services

What is the Extended Services core offer?

By 2010, all schools in England are required to provide access to a core range of extended services. The core offer comprises:

  • high-quality, year-round childcare on school sites between 8am and 6 pm
  • a varied menu of study support and a variety of after-school, volunteering and enterprise activities
  • parenting support (information, family learning)
  • swift and easy access to a wide range of specialist support services (on or off school sites)
  • wider community access to ICT, sports and arts facilities, including adult learning.

For more information about the core offer, including advice and resources, please download the Core Offer Toolkit.

How can ContinYou help you achieve this?

ContinYou's Extended and Integrated Service (E&IS) team can offer schools and local authorities:

  • focused support with extended services development
  • advice and support with school remodelling
  • planning and self-evaluation around extended services.
