ContinYou - Changing lives through learning
ContinYou is one of the UK's leading education charities. We believe that every child and young person must have an education that enables them to develop to their full potential.

ContinYou Ealing Parent Partnership Service

CEPPS logo The ContinYou Ealing Parent Partnership Service strives to lend a helping hand to the parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN).

We provide free advice, information and support, and assist with a variety of issues such as secondary transfer, exclusions or applying for a statement of special educational needs.

Opening the service

Since opening on 6 April 2009, we have had more than 400 families using our service. Read our survey report (PDF) to find out what they think of us.

We opened the service with a family fun day.

The team

The team has attended training courses to broaden our knowledge of the field of SEN and keep abreast of local and national policy developments.

We recently attended training on the SEN Green Paper and how it might impact upon our service and the borough of Ealing.

We have also been keeping up to date with personalisation and person-centred planning, to ensure that we involve children and young people as far as possible.

We produce a service newsletter as well as several leaflets designed to make the educational process easier for parents of children with SEN. We have put on various events and workshops in partnership with other agencies such as a transitions workshop along with Ealing Mencap.

We have been involved in the developing agenda of the Lamb Enquiry, attending several policy days and training days, and getting information out to parents about events so they could attend.

Support Group

We run a monthly support group at the Carers Centre.

Our support groups involve short workshops on relevant topics and often have visiting speakers. The rest of the time is taken up with just having a coffee and a chat. Our aim is to give parents the chance to meet others in a similar position and to come away with some useful information.

Helping parents speak up and know their rights

We organise focus groups to give parents the chance to feed back to the Local Authority.

We visit parent groups to talk parents through the SEN process and explain how our service can help. Please contact us on 02082802251 or cepps@continyou.org.uk if you would like us to speak at your parent group.

Pledge

We promise…

To represent your wishes and the best interests of your child

You can put your trust in us and be confident that we will act on your behalf and fight your case whenever it is necessary. The information we provide you with will be accurate, relevant and impartial.

To always be honest with you

So when you come to us with a problem, we will be realistic about the chances your ideal outcome has of success. If we feel that what you want is likely to be difficult to achieve, we will explain why and offer alternative solutions for you to think about. But ultimately, we are talking about your child and so the choice of what to do is yours. So remember, we will always help and support you whatever course of action you decide to take.

To get back to you in good time

If you leave a message on our answer phone we will endeavour to call you back the same day, and no later than the next day (Monday if you called on a Friday).

When you leave your details with the helpline, you will receive a follow-up call from your caseworker within 24 hours (no later than Monday if you called on Friday).

When you book an appointment, we’ll see you as soon as we can and will try our best to work around your schedule and the timescales relating to your issue.
