What we do
The Service provides information and support for parents and carers of children with special educational needs. We work in a range of ways including:
- one-to-one support through phone calls, home visits, attendance at meetings with schools, the LA etc
- impartial advice and information about special educational needs
- support at meetings
- support during assessment for a statement of SEN
- liaison with schools, the LA, support services, local statutory and voluntary organisations.
- Parents Information Evenings held in each area of the county, including Spring Term secondary transfer meetings for parents of statemented children
- written information on SEN procedures
- workshops for schools, governors, early years providers, statutory agencies
- termly newsletter
- a range of resources providing information on specific disabilities and voluntary organisations
- representation on strategic groups to promote parents views
- liaison with the West Midlands PPS Network and the National PPS Network
- liaison with the SEN Regional Partnership.
