Background
Share is a fun programme that encourages parents/carers, children, teachers, managers, facilitators and anybody else involved to all work together with the aim of improving partnerships, numeracy and literacy, self-esteem, confidence and social interaction within the community. Share can only be delivered by a trained Share facilitator.
Funding
Share was originally piloted in 1996 (funded by the DfE (formerly DCSF) and a private funder). The DCSF continued to support the development of Share until 2003.
Reviews and evaluations
An annual review form was sent to all Share settings to gather feedback from people who were directly involved. This information has helped develop and improve the programme and has informed Share's published resources.
A requirement of the funding that Share benefited from were regular evaluations. These were carried out by independant evaluators. You can read a summary of the evaluation of the Share Foundation stage.
Other ad hoc reviews are occasionally carried out, such as the Oldham Review. Research and Data Services Limited (RDS), an independent research company, was commissioned by Oldham Children’s Fund and On Track to examine the impact of the Share programme in 2004-05.
