Planning your club

Frequently asked questions

Before you decide what kind of club you will run or before you apply for funds you need to ask yourself the following questions: why, who, where, when, what and how?

There are many areas which you need to think about when planning your club, to ensure that you meet local needs and that you stay legal. Our frequently asked questions page sets out some of the questions you should be asking, and provides you with some top tips for planning your club.

Consultation

When planning your club you must first establish what parents, young people and the community are looking for in a breakfast club. By consulting these groups you can find out what sort of breakfast club everyone wants and needs, and you can find out how best to make the club popular.

Find out how to consult with parents, children and the community; download consultation resources such as survey and questionnaire templates; and find out how to engage and involve young people, by visiting our consultation page.

If you are a school you must consult with your parents and community before you start charging for your service to ensure your charges are affordable. This is a legal requirement. Visit the charging page to find out more.

Staffing

Visit our staffing page for more information on:

  • staffing options for breakfast clubs
  • how to set up a breakfast club steering group

Rules and regulations
