Refugees into teaching, employability
A large number of volunteers and staff work with supplementary schools.
Very often these employment or volunteering opportunities provide people from the community and further afield with voluntary or part-time opportunities they can use in their professional lives; in cases where volunteers have qualified abroad and are struggling to have their qualifications recognised in the UK, such experience can prove very useful in helping people move into new job opportunities.
Thanks to a range of new programmes, this teaching and voluntary experience in supplementary schools is now recognised and many supplementary school volunteers have subsequently gone into teaching careers.
