Sportsmatch

Sport England is delighted to announce the return of Sportsmatch, with a new web-based facility enabling applicants to apply online. Designed to encourage new or additional sponsorship investment from businesses, trusts and private individuals, Sportsmatch will continue to offer pound for pound matched funding to sporting stakeholders for projects that encourage sports participation at grass roots level.

All projects applying in 2008/09 will need to ensure that they are able to deliver their project in its entirety by 31 March 2009. Find out more by visiting the Sportsmatch website.

The Joanies Trust (UK)

Registered charities working with young people aged 11 to 25 are eligible to apply for grants through the Joanies Trust. Each year, the Trust makes approximately 30 grants with an average value of £1,000. These grants are for projects that offer intensive support to young people, that promote preventative work, and that lead to individual development through integration, work opportunities or accreditation. In particular, the Trust is looking to support projects that show innovation and imagination, as well as evidence of close consultation with young people in developing their project.

The next deadline for applications is 31 August 2008. For further information visit the Joanie's Trust website.

Family Learning programme (England)

This is a £40 million programme to bring generations of families together through learning. Known as the Family Learning programme, groups, including charities, community and voluntary bodies and schools, can apply for awards of between £10,000 and £500,000 for up to five years to help families bond whilst building life skills. A key element of the fund is to attract learners that may face particular barriers in accessing learning opportunities.

The type of activities that can be funded could include gardening, cooking, reading or maths, or using elements of sports, arts, crafts and drama as a basis for learning.

Applications can be submitted at any time until the 29 April 2009. For more information visit the Big Lottery website.

Healthy Community Challenge

As part of a £30 million Healthy Community Challenge Fund, local areas are invited to come up with innovative ways to make regular physical activity and healthy food choices easier for local communities, with the aim of preventing overweight and obesity in England.

Expressions of interest have to be submitted by 11th July. Find out more about ContinYou's relevant programmes, that you might like to include within your bid! (PDF file, 527 KB).
