Looked-after children
Taking Part
The Taking Part pilot aimed to improve outcomes for looked-after children through better access to mainstream out-of-school-hours learning opportunities. The Taking Part Resource Pack and DVD illustrate powerful connections between the five outcomes set out for children in the Every Child Matters framework and make an effective case for putting study support/oshl at the heart of every local authority’s corporate parenting strategy.
ContinYou now offers local authorities full or half-day services to implement the use of this resource.
- fully designed authority-wide launch events for Taking Part
- facilitated meetings with key stakeholders to address key education areas through study support/oshl
- presentations or workshops for key people about the importance of study support for children in care – including at conferences
- support for local authorities to start developing study support as an entitlement for children in care
- support/training/awareness-raising for various key groups, including: social workers and managers, independent reviewing officers, schools, youth workers, school governors, designated teachers, carers, elected members.
