Training overview

ContinYou has developed a one day training course that will give you all you need to set up and run an OwnZone programme. The training day will bring to life the ideas described in the OwnZone resource pack, and will provide the answers to many of the practical questions that you may have about establishing a care and learning club. You will hear from people who are already running successful OwnZone clubs about how they made things work.

Who is the training course for?

This event will be useful for anyone interested in extending services in/with schools. It will help you to understand the issues surrounding the core offer of providing childcare and extended services beyond the school day.

The day will focus on providing further information for school staff who are interested in extending existing study support/oshl provision in their school. The day is appropriate for teachers, teaching assistants, heads of department or other staff or volunteers. Each session can cater for up to 30 delegates.

Training is usually delivered through LAs or to a cluster of schools. But we can also deliver workshops at conferences and INSET days, delivered either by a member of ContinYou staff or a trained consultant.

Course aims

  • to raise awareness of OwnZone and the benefits to schools, pupils and parents, as well as health improvement and community regeneration
  • to provide information on how to develop partnerships and how to use your OwnZone membership to identify funding opportunities
  • to share models of good practice and introduce a wide variety of effective club delivery
  • to provide a planning tool for starting and sustaining an OwnZone programme.
