ContinYou Cymru hosts European study visits

During the week of 15th November, 2010, ContinYou Cymru hosted three study groups from Europe. The week-long education exchange gave the groups an opportunity to learn about community focused schools developments in Wales.

Two of the study groups were from the Czech Republic: Centrum komunitní práce Ústí and Labem (Community Work Centre in Ústí and Labem) and a group organised by the National Network of Rural Community Schools. The third group consisted of educationalists from across Europe as part of the European Commission's Transversal programme. The visitors included school teachers, headteachers, representatives from higher education establishments and co-ordinators of community schools.

Whilst in Wales the study groups visited a number to schools to learn about their community focused provision. Two of the groups also attended ContinYou Cymru’s sixth annual Conference which focused on how community focused schools can address child poverty.

Here are comments from some of the participants about their visit:

“I learned a lot of things for myself and for my school”

“Now I have to work to transfer some things and ideas I saw during the last week”

“I got a lot of ideas for my daily work in our institution and for the Comenius project that we will have”

“Once again, I would like to tell you how much I appreciated this study visit … I collected a lot of ideas from all these schools and hopefully, I'll be able to transfer them to my school”
