International standards for community schools
ContinYou is involved in the development and piloting of International Standards for Community Schools with a number of European countries. They are in the form of a self assessment tool where schools bring together a team of people from the staff, parents, pupils, partner agencies and the community to use the tool.
The Standards have had their first pilot and Wales is taking part in the second phase of the pilot between September 2009 and September 2010, which involves around 30 schools. The pilot in Wales is exploring the links between the Standards and the six elements of the School Effectiveness Framework (SEF) and the new inspection framework. This will be to ensure that the Standards can be a useful and practical tool to show how a community focused schools approach can support both the SEF and inspection.
These Standards have now been ‘gifted’ to the new International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools (ICECS) that ContinYou is ‘incubating’ for the next three years.
