Three quick activity ideas
For a quick fix here are three fun, quick activity ideas that only need a little bit of space and some imagination!

At the Movies
Setting - indoors
Skills developed - imagination, confidence, vocabulary, improvisation
Equipment - none necessary but basic props might be useful
Staff - one person to supervise
You have two callers that play movie critics and they get two fictitious movie titles like “Elmo Forever” and “Donkey Liver”. The callers then proceed to set up clips for the movie that the other players must bring to life. This is a fun format because there is so much you can do - for example, after a scene is done the callers can ask to see the scene played in reverse to check for hidden messages or they can set up musical numbers or an Oscar winning monologue. The players can also do something totally weird and leave the critics to explain the scene.
Freeze
Setting - indoors or outdoors
Skills developed - improvisation, self control, concentration
Equipment - cleared space
Staff - one person to supervise or judge
The ‘Freezer’ yells the word ‘freeze’ and everyone must freeze in the exact position that they are presently in. They must pretend that they are statues or mannequins and stay frozen. The ‘Freezer’ may pick any setting, for example, a mall or museum. The ‘Freezer’ then goes around and does everything in his or her power to get then to move: make jokes, walk funny (the leader keeps the setting alive by acting like a character from the environment they chose). Each person that moves is eliminated from the game. The last person to stay frozen wins. They will then start the new setting.
Hit the Snake
Setting - outdoors or large open room
Skills developed - team work, agility, coordination
Equipment - medium sized soft ball
Staff - one person to supervise
Start out with three people to form a snake, having a head, middle section and the tail with players placing hands on waist to stay attached. The remainder of the group form a circle around the snake. The object of the game is to try and hit the tail of the snake with the ball. The snake moves around quickly to prevent this from happening. The group pass the ball around to out smart the snake to get a shot at the tail. If the tail is hit the person that hit the snake is now the head of the snake. The tail is to take the place of the thrower back into.
