ContinYou - Changing lives through learning
ContinYou is one of the UK's leading education charities. We believe that every child and young person must have an education that enables them to develop to their full potential.

Are we formal childcare?

To determine whether your club will be considered formal day care provision visit our inspection page.

How do we stay legal?

Registration

If you are offering formal childcare, you will have to register formally as day care provision.

Childcare for children aged three and over that is provided by a schools governing body (providing at least one pupil of the school attends) will not be separately registered by Ofsted.

More information can be found on the inspections page

Voluntary registration

If you are not offering formal childcare, you can still volunteer to register with the Ofsted Childcare Register.

There are many benefits to registering voluntarily, including:

  • Parents will know that you have met basic standards designed to safeguard children.
  • Eligible parents will be able to get help with the costs of their childcare through Working Tax Credit and employer-supported childcare schemes.
  • Local authorities offer support and training to registered providers and pass on their details to parents who are looking for childcare.
  • Schools who use external organisations to provide an extended service are encouraged to work only with registered providers.

More details of how settings can register and the benefits of doing so can be found in the Guide to Registration on the Childcare Register.
