Healthy, active learning communities

ContinYou develops programmes that use learning as a basis for developing healthy, active communities, in which people can play a full part.

We aim to undertake work within the public health sphere that contributes to reducing health inequalities. At present our main work in this field is to support the development of the national Skilled for Health programme, whose aim is to improve health among communities with the worst health outcomes, through increasing their engagement in learning. We are also involved in the development of a national strategy on health literacy.

We believe that learning lies at the heart of successful community regeneration. ContinYou works to ensure that everyone involved in community regeneration, particularly those from disadvantaged neighbourhoods and hard-to-reach groups, has access to learning opportunities.

We build the capacity of community organisations to engage with decision making and to deliver services to the people they represent. Alongside this, we help statutory agencies to build positive relationships with the community and voluntary sector.

We work with people at all levels from organisations such as regeneration teams, local strategic partnership boards, youth services and government offices.
