Context
If people undertake more physical activity, eat more healthily, and feel better about themselves, this can help to make a big contribution to improving their health and well-being.
Well planned SmallSteps4Life challenges can easily support and contribute to a whole range of educational and other priorities and programmes, including:
- school effectiveness and improvement
- behaviour, attendance and attainment
- healthy schools
- active lifestyles
- early intervention and prevention
- addressing child poverty
- improving self-esteem
- transition
- inclusion
- addressing bullying
- increasing the participation of children and young people
- rights of the child
- community cohesion.
SmallSteps4Life will specifically spearhead the ‘healthy and active’ lifestyle strand of the London 2012 Get Set education programme in England and Wales. This aims to help schools get children and young people thinking about the Olympic/Paralympic values by making healthier lifestyle choices in the run up to London 2012 and beyond.
SmallSteps4Life is part of Change4Life, which aims to help families eat well, move more and live longer. For more information, visit:
