Aiming High
Aiming High is a strategy that was launched by the DfES (now DfE) in 2003, which aimed to work with school leaders to develop whole-school approaches to raising the achievement of African Caribbean pupils.
The programme recognised the importance of engaging parents in school life and praised innovative schools that linked up with supplementary schools to this effect.
As of 2011, although the current government does not actively promote the strategy, the methods used are still widely encouraged as good practice.
