Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP)
This page may not reflect current government policy.
Since the Education and Inspection Act 2006, all local authorities had a duty to ensure that young people had access to positive activities. As part of this duty, local authorities were encouraged to consider the value of activities that met the needs of different faith and cultural groups of young people.
Supplementary schools offer young people positive activities that they attend voluntarily. In planning and auditing activities that are available, local authorities should include supplementary schools, particularly when assessing the needs of different faith and ethnic groups.
