Select and support staff and volunteers

Code of Practice statement: Recruit staff and volunteers openly and fairly, and give them the support and supervision they need to do their jobs and carry out their roles effectively.

GOLD STANDARD: There is induction, support and training for staff and volunteers. (NB evidence must include induction and training about safety).

You may wish to include:

  • staff/volunteer handbook
  • evidence of staff/volunteers development - this could be training certificates for relevant courses
  • recruitment and induction procedures
  • one or two annual reports, newsletters or school magazine (training undertaken by staff and volunteers)
  • teacher observations - mentoring, support and development.
